John Ross Height & Weight

Listed at 5’11” and 194 pounds, Ross is considered small for an NFL wide receiver. The Cincinnati Bengals selected John Ross with the ninth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The selection made Ross the highest-drafted player in Washington Huskies history.

Why Hasn’t John Ross Panned Out In The NFL?

It’s been two years since the Cincinnati Bengals selected John Ross with the ninth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, and the speedy wide receiver has yet to make much of an impact.

Ross caught just 21 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown as a rookie, then missed most of his second season due to injury. He’s healthy now but failed to stand out during training camp and preseason games.

So what’s the problem? Why hasn’t Ross been able to live up to his billing as a top-10 draft pick?

There are a few factors at play. First, Ross simply hasn’t been very good when he’s been on the field. He dropped several easy passes last season and has been plagued by inconsistency throughout his career. The Bengals also struggled to get him involved in the offense. He’s mostly been used as a deep threat, but he hasn’t been able to create separation against NFL defensive backs.

And finally, Ross has had trouble staying healthy. He missed most of his rookie season with a shoulder injury and tore his ACL last year. He’s healthy now, but it’s fair to wonder if his injuries will continue to be an issue going forward.
